HOLY CHILD ACADEMY SPANISH STUDENTS SCORE WELL IN 2018 NATIONAL SPANISH EXAMINATIONS
Drexel Hill, PA (May 24, 2018) – Holy Child Academy students attained national recognition for excellent performance on the 2018 National Spanish Examinations.
Spanish students from Holy Child Academy earned a total of three gold, three silver and five bronze medals along with six honorable mentions. “Attaining a medal or honorable mention for any student on the National Spanish Examinations is very prestigious,” said Kevin Cessna-Buscemi, National Director of the Exams, “because the exams are the largest of their kind in the United States with over 150,000 students participating in 2018.”
The National Spanish Examinations are administered each year in grades 6 through 12, and are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. Students from Holy Child Academy have a long history of high achievement on these exams.

Holy Child Academy Student Receives Scholarship to St. Joseph’s Preparatory School
Drexel Hill, PA (March 19, 2018) – Daniel Deeney, an eighth-grade student at Holy Child Academy, has been awarded the St. Joseph Scholarship from St. Joseph’s Preparatory School. Established in 2017, the four-year, full-tuition merit scholarship is given to one incoming freshman who demonstrates the highest standard of excellence in academics, character and leadership.
In 2017, Deeney received a gold medal in the National Spanish Exams, first place in the Delaware County Science Fair, and qualified for the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth Scholars Program. He is involved in numerous extracurricular activities including Archdiocesan Honor Band, Archdiocesan All-Star Jazz Band, Upper Darby Summer Stage, soccer and student council.
