Goodbye, September!

Happy Fall! It's hard to believe that September is coming to an end, but Nursery 2 is ready for October to begin!

We had an exciting week discussing and experiencing the first signs of Autumn! We mixed fall colors together and used sponge pumpkins to decorate our "Fall Treasure Box". This is where we will collect any of the fall treasures our class finds throughout the month. We spent a lot of time outside in nature, noticing the colors of the leaves and how the air is starting to get chillier. In the classroom we added colorful leaves, acorns and pinecones to our treasure box, and we look forward to adding many more exciting autumnal finds.

On Tuesday, we had our first fire drill, and the children did great! The alarm is loud and would be startling to anyone, but we prepped them by talking about what they would hear and what we would do. Of course we paired this with a fun song where we pretended we were driving on a firetruck. But when the time came, our class got up, walked quickly and quietly in a line, and safely exited the building. I was so proud! *We will have a few more drills like this throughout the year.*

Today, our other friends from Nursery 2 as well as Nursery 3 gathered in our classroom to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Together we read Green is a Chile Pepper: a Book of Colors by Roseanne Greenfield Thong, and we watched a Sesame Street video featuring flamenco dance. We even got to learn and practice a few dance moves. It was so much fun to be with one another, and the kids enjoyed dancing with their friends.

As always, thanks for sharing your children with us! I look forward to a new week of learning and growing together.

Important Reminders:

- On Tuesday, October 4, the HCA community will be celebrating the Blessing of the Animals at 8:15 am on the field. Students should arrive to school at regular time. Parents/family members may join us on the field with their pets. If you are unable to attend feel free to send in a stuffed animal or picture of your pet and we will take it to the field with us.

- Please subscribe to the teacher page so you can get an email reminder when a new post is made.

- If you are able, please go on a "fall hunt" with your child over the weekend or upcoming week. Collect any fall or nature items in a zip lock bag and send them in with your child throughout the next few weeks!

Have a good weekend!
