Making new friends

This week, we had some fun opportunities to spend time with new friends from other classrooms!

On Tuesday, Nursery 2 got a special visit from their big buddies in third grade! Mrs. Hoffman's class came down to our classroom with lots of exciting books to share. They enjoyed their time reading with their buddies and getting to know each other. We look forward to doing this a few more times over the school year.

On Friday, we celebrated the Phillies with an impromptu morning dance party! The children were excited - and a little confused - when instead of our normal morning routine, we stayed outside in the hall with the other early childhood classrooms! We had so much fun dancing and singing together, and the kids loved getting to hang with the other classes and teachers. We also got to spend some of the day with our friends in the other Nursery 2 classroom. Together we played, went to gym class, ate snack and lunch, and read a book to practice our colors. The kids enjoyed spending time with new friends.

We opened up our big sensory table and the children were so excited to explore the new things inside. It was filled with orange Halloween rice, and they were able to scoop, pour, and transfer into all different types of containers. They did a great job practicing these practical life skills and following the rules of keeping the rice in the table. Most of it even stayed inside! Throughout next week the kids will discover new Halloween surprises added to the mix, and we may even get another delivery from the pumpkin fairy!

Our room is getting more festive by the day as we work hard on Halloween crafts and art projects. The children are doing a great job taking their time during these activities and are proud to see their artwork displayed on the walls! We will continue with a lots more Halloween fun next week as we gear up for the mission party.
