This week, First Grade learned about Lunar New Year in Social Studies.  The students learned about the legend of the dragon Nian, the Chinese Zodiac animals, and other traditions and customs of the holiday.  Alyssa also taught the class about how her family celebrates the holiday, foods they eat during the holiday, and she showed the class how the names of the various zodiac animals are written using Chinese characters.  The class really learned a lot!
