My name is Miss Hoffman and I am excited to be your child’s teacher this year! As a class, we will have a lot of fun learning and growing together.  

In addition to spending a lot of time strengthening our reading, math, and writing skills, students will focus on taking responsibility for their behavior and being kind to others. As Planeteers, our service projects will focus on caring for our environment. 

In Third Grade we will move from, “Learning to read, to reading to learn.” Students will be engaged in the reading process with before, during, and after reading activities.  They will continue to use the Journeys reading series, as well as participate in a novel study in the spring.  In math this year, we will focus on mastering the multiplication and division tables, as well as learning about geometry concepts, telling time, and fractions.  Our Social Studies curriculum focuses on communities, past and present, and celebrates the diversity of our country today.  Science units will include Animal Adaptations, Rocks and Minerals, earth Science, and also participating in a Junior Science Fair.  Next Spring, the entire Lower School will participate in our thematic unit on Oceans.
