Celebrating Mexico’s Independence Day!

Today, students in segundo (2nd) and sexto (6th) grades celebrated Mexico's Independence Day, or Día de la Independencia. Second graders read a story that spoke of the holiday's origins, history, and holiday traditions. They drew comparisons to similar holidays in the U.S. (i.e. Fourth of July), completed an activity, and even danced to some traditional música mexicana [photos and video featured below].

Sixth graders watched a video on Día de la Independencia en México and then played a Kahoot! to put their new knowledge to the test. We welcome you to visit these links along with your children this weekend as part of the shared experiences this month for Hispanic Heritage Month!
