Grade 5 Gingerbread Math

Fifth graders enjoyed a little Gingerbread Geometry challenge this week! Students used edible treats (graham crackers, frosting, and candies) to construct and design their own original structures. They reviewed previous math concepts of area and perimeter and learned how to calculate the volume of composed figures. And of course ate plenty of sweets!

Awards were given for Most Ambitious, Best Construction, and Most Creative.

Most Ambitious:
Gabby and Alexa with their Empire State Building Turned Party Boat

Best Construction:
Sophia and Izzy for their use of Vertical Graham Crackers and Reinforced Beam Work

Most Creative:
Cora and Genevieve with their Rocketship to Mars Bars
