We started this week off with a beautiful mass presided by Fr. Rich Jasper. The early childhood students participated by singing, praying, and being very reverent throughout the mass. It was such a special time for our students and teachers. One of my most favorite masses held at HCA!
This week, we began reading the story, Charlotte's Web, by E.B. White. They boys and girls have really enjoyed the first few chapters of the story. We are using our imagination to set the scenery in our minds and envision what the characters are doing. Throughout the next few weeks as we listen to the story, we will focus on what friendship means, learn new vocabulary, and embark on a new adventure of chapter books! Ask your child what happened in the story today! We are having fabulous discussions!
This week we introduced the concept of telling time. We are working on telling time to the hour and half hour using an analog clock and comparing it to digital time. Some students are working on counting by five minute intervals on the analog clock. Challenge your children at home by asking them, "What time is it?"
To celebrate Earth Week, we got together with our sixth grade buddy class and participated in a few fun activities during Community Time. We had fun playing a bingo game that dealt with recycling various materials and listening to a story about keeping our oceans clean written by the grandmother of two HCA students! What a fun way to start our day!
We continue to enjoy our mystery readers! It's been so much fun having our parents come in and read to the class!
